With the exception of Dan Wheldon (and, possibly, team owners Bryan Herta and Steve Newey), nobody got a bigger thrill at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway last weekend than Kieran Brughelli. If Kieran?s name is not quite as familiar as those of Messrs Wheldon, Herta and Newey, unlike the guys who took a ?one-off? ride to an improbable victory on Sunday, the Rhode Islander is guaranteed not one but two seats at the table for the 2012 Indianapolis 500. As if the Greatest Spectacle in Racing needed more spectacle, toy-car maker Hot Wheels decided to toss in a giant ramp and a stadium truck. The idea was to capture a new world record for four-wheeled vehicle distance jump, and the whole thing took place as part of the Indianapolis 500‘s pre-race festivities. For added [...]
One of our readers caught the Fiat 500 Abarth out testing on a Michigan freeway, cleverly disguised as a 500 Sport model. We’ve already sampled the Abarth, so the giveaways were easy to spot, namely the dual exhaust outlets and the blacked-out Abarth front fascia with inset fog lamps, distinct badge frame, and air inlets [...]
Felipe Massa has called on the FIA to issue further penalties against Lewis Hamilton following a collision between the pair during the Monaco Grand Prix. Hamilton made contact with the Ferrari driver at the Loews hairpin on lap 34 as he tried to pass his rival on the inside of the corner, driving over the kerbs in the process and knocking the nose of Massa's car against the rear wheel of Mark Webber's Red Bull
